And suddenly, without a warning, she stood right in front of me - in full height - La Negra. For one moment we looked at each other - surprised, almost stunned, and I realized how beautiful she was, with perfect figure, Cole black skin, black hip long hair and jet black eyes. Her face was sensitive and gorgeous and her jaw bones high and noble… only then her face turned into a mask of hatred and she grasped: "You - finally!" Now her rage made her face ugly…
I coolly looked back: "Yes, finally. It's about time we will remove you from this ground." She laughed shrilly. "Yoooouuuu? You must be kidding! You are not the woman for this, witch!!"
"Well." I answered calmly. "We will see…" With those words I climbed off my horse…
And then a terrible duel started - as the world has never seen it before. Love against hatred, evil against good, black against white and magic against magic - everything was fighting with us…
Blade thundered against blade - steel against steel… iron broke like dry wood - sparks flew all over the place
The "Golden one" - and the "Black one" fought against each other - for the price of the Earth, the war, the power of love - and their lives…
To me there was only one thing important: The little circle of sand we fought on - I didn't have time to watch what happened around us. I had my eyes full of sand and the sun burnt in my eyes… still I fought grimly. At this moment there was only me, La Negra, my hurting muscles and the will for victory…
Finally, after a time which seemed to me like hours, I had her where I wanted to have her. She lay underneath me, heavily breathing, exhausted, and my knife was on her throat. But instead of killing her, I tied her up with star light, the smell of the flower of wild garlic and the shimmering colors of the rainbow… besides that I mixed some butterfly caterpillars into her ties… caterpillars were slow and sluggish and would make her heavy and sleepy. Her complete indifference would show up within about one hour.
The moment she understood that she was lost, she hissed at me: "Come on - kill me! I want you to kill me!!"
I laughed softly and musically and shook my head. "No, my Dear. It is too early for this." She stared at me. "What does that mean?" I was still smiling. "What I said - the Fairy World is safe - now we will take care for the Dragon Empire." - "Vardrav is mine!" She screamed. I shook my head again. "It's not."
Close to the drawbridge I tied her to a pillar. She tried to get away, but couldn't do anything against the star light. The wild garlic avoided her sneaking off without a warning and I could take care for the trolls, together with Sheridan and Verdon…
We kept on sticking with Sheridan's' original idea to give the trolls back to the nature in their natural forms - as roots - from where they came from. The elves helped us as good as they could - and after several hours we had the most beautiful bushes, trees, plants, grass, moss and waterlillies around Fairy Grove.
The Elf King was full of grace - and we all were happy this fight had been turned out to be so mild…
But still we hadn't forgotten about Vardrav… we weren't done yet… the Dragon Castle and Vardrav were still in danger… we were in a hurry.
Within the shortest time we had magically moved our remaining battalions to the front. Even though it was unbelievably exhausting we couldn't afford losing anymore time! It was late - almost too late to still be able to save the Dragon Empire. The battle field and our warriors seemed to be overrunned by trolls.
At the very end we hugged the Elf-King and Queen, took La Negra in our midst and teleported us to the elf tower of the Dragon Castle where we were able to oversee the battle field. To our shock the battle had been developed that far, the trolls were already about to storm into the Dragon Castle.
The entire field over to the food of the mountains and on the other side to the edge of the forest the ground was covered with trolls, injured, alive and dead - and some of the dead bodies - not only a few of them, belonged to our warriors. The fields smoked, the harvest was burnt, a part of the forest glowed and even there fires had just started… the small town in the valley basin was destroyed… I was close to tears…
My children too swallowed dryly… Sheridan was pale of exhaustion… Verdon could hardly keep his human form upright… but even if he changed back into a Dragon… his body would be almost frozen of tiredness.
"It is hopeless." Sheridan whispered with white lips. The troops we had brought back from the Fairy World seem to encourage Vardrav's army - but if we weren't able to act immediately, the Dragon Empire would go over to the trolls…
"There's only one way." my son stated and ask us to go to the side a little bit. "I need room - and I want to be able to develop my entire strength!" He closed his eyes and I knew he gave his fairy wish back to use all his power and not fall off the sky when he turned back into his original form…
At just the precise moment when the trolls on the battle field got prepared to storm in a new formation against our warriors Verdon had turned back into a Dragon…
La Negra's eyes were wide of shock. Until that very same moment she had not believed it. Here stood the last Golden Dragon's son!
Verdon got onto his hind legs… his exhaustion had disappeared…
I had never really realized in the past time how much "my little boy" had been growing. He was already about a head taller than I was in his human form. But as a Dragon he was lengths taller. Even though he would never reach the size of his father - he was still about two and a half times the length of an adult man.
He flapped his wings, stretched out and opened his fangs to pull out an infernal roaring which made my hair stand up. It was not only loud but also a warning for all living creatures around - fighting against the Empire. Swords stopped moving - fighting noises died… scared screams got loud. - "A Dragon is in the Country - a Dragon!!"
Verdon flew up onto the pewter of the elf tower and then threw himself down, spread out his wings and caught himself into the thermics which carried him high up in the air - visible to everyone…
